16-19 Year Olds Entry to Employment
The Entry to Employment Programme (E2E) is in partnership with St Helens College and Warrington YMCA. Therefore young people who live in either of these areas will have the opportunity to access this course.
The programme is about preparing young people for work in the construction industry and comprises of a mixture of the following (depending upon individual needs):
- Six week Taster Programme in Bricklaying, Joinery and Plastering
- Support and training to work towards a City & Guilds Level 1
Qualification in their chosen vocational area
- City & Guilds embedded Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number qualifications that are relevant to the construction industry.
- Work placement opportunities with local employers
- Educational visits relating to the Construction Industry
- Awareness raising sessions from external agencies
- Ongoing support
- Target setting and reviews
- Portfolio building
- Health and Safety Awareness
- CSCS Health and Safety test training
- Work Placement Planning and Preparation
- First Aid Certificates
- Personal and Social Development
- A fun and friendly environment to learn and work in

16-19 Year Olds Apprenticeships
Instant Training works in partnership with NWTC (Liverpool) to offer young people the opportunity to access apprenticeships, which include:
- NVQ Level 2s in:
• Bricklaying (Trowel Occupations)
• Joinery (Wood Occupations)
• Plastering
- Intermediate Construction Awards in the appropriate vocational area.
- Key Skills Level 1 in Communication and Application of Number
- Employment Responsibilities and Rights
In order to access an apprenticeship opportunity the young person must have an employer who is willing to employ them through the full programme. Employers who are CITB registered may be entitled to funding to assist with the costs of this training.
The apprenticeship is achieved via:
- Portfolio building
- Observation in the workplace against level 2 standards
- In house training to develop the practical skills needed to achieve
the Intermediate Construction Award
- Key Skills portfolio building
- Key Skills on line assessments
- Theory sessions to ensure that candidates have all of the
underpinning knowledge required to achieve the apprenticeship
In addition, we also offer young people the opportunity to take part in CSCS Health and Safety test training.
